Tattoo Candy

Ryan O’hara Miller, born and reared in northern Indiana, has a partialness for a bucolic landscape. He cultivates an interest and influence from the Merrie Melodies rubber hose animation and inkblot cartoon-style of 1930’s America and the works of Ub Iwerks, particularly to thick, black lines and discreet design. Trained as a fine artist, his work in tattoos varies to accommodate interests with respect to taste, but his concentration is in a reworking of the American Traditional. Apprenticed under Rebecca “SPECK” Osterhout, Ryan creates new perspectives, alternate design patterns, and original transpositions while retaining geographical simplicities and heavy black shading. In association with his love for a pastoral surrounding, much of his artistic scenery reflects wildlife, flora, life, and death.
